Today I have an interview with Zee Longenecker about her beautiful studio space, her creative practice and what inspires her.
I came across Zee on the Etsy Open Studios Flickr group and was blown away by her gorgeous bright and colourful studio.
I have always loved seeing other peoples spaces and how they turn them into little creative nooks and Zee’s is no exception!

1. Please tell us a bit about yourself, what do you create, where you do live & what do you do?
My name is Zee Longenecker, I am originally from Rio de Janeiro – Brazil and I live in Northern Arizona with my husband, kids and cats. I stay at home with my two little boys and I create photographs that I sell on my Etsy shop and hopefully soon, I will be able to reopen my other shop where I will offer handbags and home accessories
How much time do you spend in your studio?
I think I spend no more than 4-5 hours a day. I have a lot to do, I am always busy with my kids and home.
Where did you find the pieces to decorate your studio space?
The bookcases are from Ikea. The cutting table was built by my husband. The sisal rug and computer table (I’ve painted it white) is from World Market, the white desk was also painted by me and it used to belong to my husband, it’s a very old desk.

What inspires you?
The nature. I really love flowers and I must have them around me. Colors and natural materials. Childhood memories and my little boys are also very inspiring. Vintage finds, like fabric, prints, toys, etc…
How would you describe your creative process?
I have a notebook and any ideas I have, I like to write it down, because I often forget them. Sometimes I have great creative moments when taking showers or when I am about to sleep. I take notes as I am inspired at that moment and I try to imagine that particular idea ready, accomplished. How am I going to do it? What materials I will use? Some ideas will be forgotten, some will work out as I’ve imagined.
Can you describe yourself in three words? (e.g, photographer, crafter, writer, dreamer etc.)
I am curious, a learner and yes, a dreamer.
