I love collecting old wallpaper samples from DIY shops and I decided to use some to restyle an old, shabby photo frame to match some cushions in my bedroom. This project took 20 minutes and was so easy to do and I took some pictures of the process.

1. First I removed the old photograph and gave the frame a wipedown to remove any dirt and residue.

2. I cut the wallpaper to size leaving enough space to cover round the edges of the frame.

3. I cut the picture hole out and cut diagonal lines in ready for the wallpaper to be folded over the edges.

4. I painted on a coat of gel gloss medium (it’s slightly stronger than pva) to the surface of the picture frame.

5. I firmly pressed the wallpaper onto the glued surface and repainted the edges so they were strongly stuck down.

6. I then burnished the edges with the handle of my paintbrush to get rid of any air bubble and to redefine the edges of the frame.

And voila! I now have a new, updated photoframe that matches the rest of my room!
Of course you can also try painting, distressing, sanding and collaging different photo frames. The techniques are endless. I just found this one really easy for a quick update and also because I used free wallpaper samples it cost me nothing to do!
